No. I think this newspaper should be cited for taking this ridiculous poll! What is wrong with you people? Here you have a volunteer officer in your town who risks his life and well being on a day to day basis to keep your citizens safe. So all of the sudden something "newsworthy" happens, so you try to chastise him for doing his job and trying to keep your community safe. Leave the guy alone. Your lucky you have someone like that in your town that would put forth that much personal time and effort to help your community. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth!!!!!

I do not think officer Colosimo should be cited for leaving his car on the tracks. He did nothing wrong. He followed protocal and notified dispatch to stop the trains and the dispatcher did not do her job.If anything "she" should be the one getting the citation and losing her job! I know Officer Colosimo personally and he is a very good Officer who goes above and beyond the call of duty and takes his job very seriously. He would never intentionally put himself or others in danger. He should be praised for the good work he does in our community instead of ridiculed for someone elses lack of effort in doing "their" job properly! I just hope the Dispatcher who was responsible for all this mess feels like a total ass! "She" could have gotten someone killed!

Yes,the Officer should be given a CITATION ! For doing a good job ! At least he got out of the car, in other communities they don't. It was a mistake, He turned on the emergency lights, was talking on the radio, was watching which way they were running and getting out of the car, all at the same time. I'm sure you have made a mistake one time or another on your job, but, you don't have the media or the public there looking over your every move. He had to make a decision within a couple of seconds and you want to take days to pick it apart. The dispacher, she made a mistake too, everyone makes them. Gas prices are up and so is scrap and it's going to get worse. no one was hurt, so move on. Maybe the next time you call 911 they can send a crackhead instaed or the AG office can investigate it. Oh wait, they have their on train wreck they are dealing with ! Accidents happen and people make mistakes, MOVE ON !

Officer Colosimo advised dispatch 15 minutes prior to the car being struck, if the dispatcher would have done her job then we would have never had to deal with this poll or any of the articles this week. The poll should be "Should the dispatcher be held criminally negligent for not doing her job and causing this mishap?" I am not saying parking the cruiser on the tracks was the right thing to do and I am sure the Officer will not do it again but he advised the dispatcher her was on the train and to notify CSX In the past when dispatch notifies CSX the trains will stop until the tracks are clear. But this dispatcher failed to do so and there has to be something done about it because as Chief Carlson said she is the Officer's lifeline. Many what ifs can be raised including what if the the Officer would have been overcame by the three subjects and left on the tracks when dispatch did not advise CSX he could have been killed. Many other what ifs.

I'm not sure about "citing" him, but some sort of report should be made in his file. I've never chased a criminal before so I don't know how an officer thinks(or doesn't think) during a pursuit, but I do know that his leaving his vehicle during a pursuit is not similar to one of us "stupidly" parking our car on a train-track.

If stupidity was a crime,we would ALL be convicted.

He's a police officer, he should have known better and known that a train was using those tracks and acted accordingly. Sited for stupidity, not for doing his job.
