GIRARD - Jennifer Carroll Kirr of Girard passed away at 11:39 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at Hillcrest Hospital in Cleveland. She was 41.
Mrs. Kirr was born Dec. 29, 1966, in Warren.
Growing up in Niles, she attended Niles McKinley High School and went on to Eastern Michigan University. Jennifer graduated with her Juris Doctorate from the Toledo School of Law, where she received numerous awards and recognition for her outstanding academic performance.
Jennifer gave outstanding service and commitment as an attorney for the Trumbull County Prosecutor's Office. She was also the chief counsel for the Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force and served as coordinator for both Trumbull and Mahoning law enforcement agencies.
Jennifer received several commendations for her work with the task force, including one from the United States Department of Justice's Drug Enforcement Administration as well as the Ohio House of Representatives for her work in bringing down a drug trafficking ring.
Mrs. Kirr was a member of the Niles Presbyterian Church her entire life. There she served as an elder and a past deacon. She also loved teaching Sunday school, and her beautiful voice could be heard in the church choir.
Jennifer was also a proud member of the Ohio Bar Association.
More important than any professional achievements, Jennifer was a devoted wife, mother and daughter. She had an intense faith and belief in helping anyone in need. She gave generously and freely of her talents both professionally and personally.
Survivors include her parents, Julianne Williamson Grewell (and stepfather Ned Grewell) and Ronald Carroll (and stepmother Kathy); her husband of 17 years, Hans Kirr, whom she married July 28, 1990; two children, Jessica Ann and John "Jack" Truman Kirr, both at home; a sister, Annette and her husband, Scott Dockus, of Lakewood; and a brother, Gregory, and his wife, Rachele Carroll, of Howland. She was a beloved aunt to four nieces and four nephews.
She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. A.L. Williamson; and her paternal grandparents, William and Wilda Carroll.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Niles First Presbyterian Church. Calling hours will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Lane Funeral Home-Niles Chapel, 415 Robbins Ave. There also will be calling hours one hour prior to the service at the church.
