Police probe shooting

Fifteen minutes after the reported 12:30 a.m. attack in the Bet-Mar Mobile Home Park, 2640 Highland Ave. S.W., Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital reported to Warren police that an 18-year-old Youngstown man came in with a gunshot wound.
Delsean Peterman, 139 E. Brookline Ave., was found in the area of Tod Avenue S.W. and Fifth Street S.W. by a friend and taken to TMH according to a police report. A condition was not available late Thursday evening.
Police are trying to determine if the two are connected.
''It could be, it couldn't be,'' Warren Township police Lt. Don Bishop said.
Township police Chief Thomas Rush said two masked men forced their way into a home at the park in an apparent attempted robbery. Inside, they beat a man with a gun, Rush said.
Four other people, including two children, inside were not hurt, the chief said.
The man being beaten, Garland Boone, 25, was able to reach a gun from underneath a nearby table and fire a shot at the men, police said. It's unclear if either of the men, who ran when Boone shot, were struck, the chief said.
''He was being pistol-whipped,'' Rush said of Boone. ''He was able to get his gun and fire off a shot.''
Boone was treated and released from St. Joseph Health Center.
Because the men had their faces covered, the people inside the home were unable to provide police with details except their clothing, the chief said.
A Warren police report states the two men, according to an alert sent by Warren Township police, were black and wearing blue jeans and gray hooded sweatshirts. One was wearing a blue bandanna, the other a black bandanna and both were carrying small caliber guns, the report states. The men, between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-10, ran toward Warren, the report states.

I see hstottle is a mature and outstanding individual with good character and values, oh yea and did I forget judgemental. Unless you are privy to the investigation or know something that the police do not know why dont you wait till the facts are in. If for one moment you think that because Delsean was shot and died that people did not care about Delsean I would invite you to tell that to the Peterman/DeGutis family. I knew delsean personally. He use to live behind me ane I always was over his house or him and his two brothers were over mine. He had a good heart he was just cauqgt up with the wrong crowd. No one can judge anyone and say if they went to heaven or hell. It is up to God. I love delsean and will never forget him. Pray for his brothers Darryl,Dale,Wordell and his Parents.

Thank you tightadef. Deslsean is my cousin and I agree with you 100%. These haters on here are********me off talking about he didn't have a daddy and stuff. My Uncle Darryl and his mother were in all 3 of the boy's lives. And as parents we all make mistakes, we are not perfect as you said. And their mother Jackie worked 2 & 3 jobs and went to school and gave those kids whatever they needed. And my uncle made sure they didn't want for anything. And to jamesbresslerjr: when you said that my cousin will burn in*****you are wrong. You should stop being so judgemental because you are not god and you don't know what was in Delsean's heart. You better hope god lets you into heaven for being so vicious. I love my cousin and family to death and I don't care what nobody says!

I remember seeing this guy standing on the corner of 4th street with a dog.I go in the store there all the time.He seemed to be in a world of his own.It's terrible this had to happen to him .But you never know what day the lord is going to call you.I honestly don"t beleive this guy was trying to kill him he just fired a shot .Anyone us would have done the same thing to protect our families and ourselves .It was the Lord's call and he decided to take him home.And all this mess about him burning in*****is so stupid and ignorant.None of us know where we're going when we leave here...Unless you're Perfect and I Doubt that very seriously none of us are..May He Rest In Peace

Hi I just want to address some issues here. Delsean Peterman is my cousin also and I agree with you cheller2. We are not excusing his actions or his friend that was with him that night however, at 18 years old to me you are still a baby. He would have been 19 years old on August 17th and it is sad because he lost his life at such a young age. And as his family we understand that his actions were wrong but also as his family we are always going to love him and support him duh what do you expect us to do? I have 3 boys and I would never condone anything that they have done if its wrong but I still stand by them 100% and will help them in any situation and this is just me speaking as a parent.So to all who are on here saying cruel things that is not right because you never know what can happen to you. Also my aunt used to tell me that when you speak with hatred and wish bad on others you ain't doing nothing but putting words into action and the tables can be turned on you.

Yes i am defending these two individuals because one of them was my cousin. I take responsibility for the fact that what was done was wrong...okay, and i understand that the man who shot him was doing nothing more than defending himself, okay. I dont blame him for doing what he did, i dont believe he is wrong for protecting himself. I SIMPLY SAID, I DONT BELIEVE THAT THE ANYONE IN THE SITUATION DESERVED TO DIE. I cant blame the man for his death, becasue he was doing something he wasnt suppose to be doing... but at the end of the day like i said...he didnt deserve to loose his life that day for a simple mistake on his behalf. never did i defend their actions, i defended their life and personality of a person i know, didnt deseve to die.

I could say that bet mar has nothing but trouble, it just depends where it is. its the people, the young people who do not have any respect for anybody, and its all over money. maybe the township police in warren need to start investigating the trailer park more often! i bet they would find drugs, illegal/ stolen guns, and tons, i mean tons of stolen property. maybe they need to keep an eye out on the street behind spruce trail... they might find a definite raid!!!

This is an proof the problem. Ignorant individuals like the two of you contribute to the failure of these young men. Istead of downtalking these men, calling them hoodlums and assuming that they are fatherless. This is why people need to go to the firing range. This man is very lucky the hoodlums did not turn around and shoot him. I understand he was pistol whipped, but in this situation, these two should never see the courtroom, they should be in the morgue.
