Maude Jeffers Letson1928-2008

WARREN — Maude Jeffers Letson, 79, died 4:40 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2008, at Community Skilled Health Care Centre.

She was born August 13, 1928, at home in Champion, the daughter of George E. and Maude Bedlion Jeffers.

She graduated from Champion High School in 1946, then attended Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University. While attending Dana, she was a member of the Sigma Alpha Ioto Music Women’s Fraternity.

Maude was an avid golfer, skier, and bridge player. She was a founding member of the Trumbull County Bar Auxiliary, a member of St. Joseph Riverside Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and the Trumbull Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. She belonged to the Bristol Springs, Chip-n-Putt, and Trumbull Country Club Golf Leagues, where she obtained a hole-in-one, and participated in the National Cancer Society Golf Tournaments in Florida. She was also a volunteer for the local annual LPGA Tournament.

Surviving Maude are her three children, Lynne R. Letson, Thomas B. J. (Debra Whaley) Letson and Daniel B. (Sharon Meanor) Letson, all of Warren; a brother, Gerald ‘‘Jake’’ (Susan Jiannino) Jeffers of Warren; brother-in law, William N. (Linda White) Letson and sister-in law, Britta L. (Raymond) Thompson; seven grandchildren, Edward D.L. (Michelle Flint) Lavelle, Thomas C.B. Lavelle, Timothea G.P. Letson, Abagail L. Letson, Daniel N. Letson, Jennie L. Sekela (Matt) Dapore and Samantha M. Sekela (Raj) Shroff; four great-grandchildren, Addison A. Lavelle, Charles E. Lavelle, Mariel A. Dapore and Ayla R.M. Dapore; and 20 nieces and nephews.

Preceding Maude in death on February 23, 2004, was her husband, Thomas C.B. Letson, whom she married March 23, 1948. Also preceding her were her parents; four brothers, Darl, Merle, George and Lawrence; and three sisters, Wanda, Naomi and Elizabeth.

Calling hours for Maude will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at McFarland and Son Funeral Home. Services and interment will be private. Material contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3695B Boardman Canfield Road., Suite 301, Canfield 44406.
