Get the Groom Involved in the Wedding Plans

June 11, 2008

By EMILY R. CHESNIC Tribune Chronicle correspondent Traditionally, the bride, and often her mother and attendants, take charge of all of the wedding planning, leaving the groom with nothing more to do than to show up on the big day. But why is not the husband-to-be more involved? “I think they (grooms) are outnumbered,” said Susan Ezzo, an event coordinator with the Mahoning Valley Country Club of Girard, where about 100 wedding receptions are held each year. “The brides usually come in with their bridesmaids and moms. Sometimes, the grooms who are dragged along do give feedback but the brides make the ultimate decisions.” Primarily, Mahoning Valley wedding specialists interact with women who are making all of the arrangements but said they think the planning would be easier and more enjoyable if the men also were part of the decision making process. After all, it is their special day, too.
