Seeing the light
For many, it’s like sticking a pin into a balloon — that deflated feeling after the fun and excitement of the holidays. The house has become quiet, friends have gone home and the “ahs” have turned to “blahs.” Coupled with the long, cold, dark days of winter— and you could be experiencing the post-holiday blues. Every year “Barbara,” who asked not to be identified to keep her health conditions private, dreads the holidays or more accurately the letdown after the holidays. Her family and friends surround her during Christmas time, then after the celebration, go home and leave Barbara, what she describes as almost being “deserted.” “I know it’s going to happen every year. I decorate the house like I always do and have a great time with my family,” she said. “Then, like clockwork, it’s over and I’m down in the dumps. I swear every year that I won’t let this happen.
