2 p.m.: Bentley benched by Browns?
BEREA — It appears that LeCharles Bentley’s comeback bid from a serious knee injury to play for the Browns is over.
Bentley was seen sitting on a bench in front of the team’s facility shortly after skipping the morning minicamp practice Wednesday. A suitcase was next to him, and he said he was waiting for his mother to pick him up.
Bentley didn’t attend a mandatory team meeting in the morning. He also wasn’t on the field for the morning practice.
When reached shortly after 1:30 a.m., Jonathan Feinsod, the agent that represents Bentley, said he would have a statement later in the day. It’s believed that Bentley will be released.
Bentley practiced Tuesday for the first time since tearing the patella tendon in his left knee on the second day of training camp two years ago. He eventually contracted a staph infection and had three more surgeries.
The Browns cleared Bentley to practice after he passed a physical examination Monday.
