No fear, just peace
There’s an old story about a guy, sitting on the roof of his house waiting to be rescued from the flood waters that surround him. He prays to God — “God, please save me from drowning in this flood.” In the course of the next hours, people in a rowboat, a speedboat and a helicopter come along and offer to take the guy to safety. His answer each time is “No thanks. I’m waiting for God to save me.” Next thing you know, the guy drowns, goes to Heaven and meets up with God. His first question? “Hey, God, why didn’t you save me?” God’s answer: “I sent a rowboat, a motorboat and a helicopter — what more did you want?” Recently, I’ve been drowning in my own situation here in Cortland. While the waters of Mosquito Lake remain calm, the flood waters of my fear have periodically risen pretty high as I’ve waited with my daughter for four months for some Pittsburgh doctors to present a diagnosis for a serious condition. It will either be benign or cancer.
