Ronald McDonald House gives $20,000
WARREN — The local chapter of the Ronald McDonald House Charities has presented a $20,000 grant to United Methodist Community Center for the center’s family fitness program. Members of the board of directors for Ronald McDonald House attended a gathering this week at the Warren site, where they learned of a program creating family bonding experience through physical fitness. Millicent Counts, executive director of UMCC, said the money will be used for the Physical Activity that Heals Program (PATH), which is designed to foster healthy living and wellness among minority children, youth and their families to combat the growing problems of obesity, high blood pressure, and diabetes. She said the program helps families achieve healthy living. ‘‘It goes without saying that we were ecstatic to learn that we had received the largest contribution that Ronald McDonald House has ever made in this area,’’ Counts said.
